The South End Open Market, now located at Ink Block, will bring #OFFTHEWALL, Boston’s first live graffiti art gallery and block party, to the Market on Sunday, Sept. 25.
#OFFTHEWALL is set to take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of the South End Open Market at Ink Block. The weekly curated Sunday market made up of the areas best artists, designers, food and creative entrepreneurs will host dozens of local and internationally recognized graffiti artists such as Brand Rockwell, Problak, Geo ‘BOWZ’, Gofive, Wisogee, Imagine, Brianlife and more for a day of creation and artistic celebration.
“Boston is quickly emerging in the international graffiti scene as a city home to some of the world’s most talented graffiti artists, yet we have not established that reputation locally,” said Brand Rockwell, co-founder, #OFFTHEWALL.
“We have been seeking an opportunity to partner with a local organization that understands the vital role that art plays in communities. The South End Open Market at Ink Block has been a champion of local artists since in it’s inception and we couldn’t be happier to collaborate with this group.”
In addition to the live graffiti art gallery, #OFFTHEWALL is an all day artistic block party complete with mimosas, craft brews and Motown beats by Saucy Lady Music. Working in partnership with Crashline Productions – the company behind Boston Calling Music Festival and Copenhagen Beer Celebration – customers can stroll throughout the market sipping on craft brews from Sam Adams including local favorites – Boston Lager and Summer Ale. Angry Orchard Hard Cider and Truly Spiked and Sparkling will also be available for purchase, and Wicked Wines will be on hand, pouring Rosé and Prosecco. “When we first launched our markets 13 years ago, we were the only group dedicated to supporting the lively hood of independent artists. Today, we see art and farmers markets popping up on every other block,” said Chris Masci, CEO & Founder of New England Open Markets. “In order for artists to thrive in today’s world, we must constantly reinvent ourselves, but more importantly serve as champions for local talent. The #OFFTHEWALL artists are globally sought after for public art installations yet Boston is unaware of the depth of creativity sitting in our background. #OFFTHEWALL will no doubt showcase the untapped potential of Boston’s creative economy and hopefully inspire us all to do more.”
Interactive art activities for children of all ages will be offered during the live gallery’s hours of operation.
