Candidate Mike Kelley held a canvass kickoff Sunday, Sept. 10, in the South End’s Villa Victoria neighborhood, rallying supporters from every neighborhood in District 2.
Joining Kelley were Attorney General Maura Healey as well as several members of SEIU Local 888. Kelley’s campaign had more than 50 volunteers knocking on doors and speaking with voters across every one of District 2’s diverse neighborhoods.
The Kelley campaign has received increasing support throughout District 2, gaining the endorsements of several labor unions, as well as the Democratic Committees of Wards 3, 4 and 5. With the Tuesday, Sept. 26 preliminary election fast approaching, Mike continues to share his Putting People First agenda with residents across District 2.
Speaking at the campaign’s canvass kickoff, AG Healey said, “Fundamentally, it’s about people. It’s about fighting for people and taking care of people.”
She continued, “For me, one of the things that resonates the most about Mike Kelley is that he has been, and will always be about people.”
Addressing the crowd of his supporters and volunteers, Kelley thanked AG Healey, saying, “I can’t think of a better person to be standing with right now, who shows every single day what it’s like and how important it is to have elected officials and leaders, not only in this state, but in this country, who care about people and are willing to stand up.”
