On Wednesday, Jan. 31, at about 1:56 p.m., police responded to a radio call to investigate a person at 77 Exeter St.
While en route to the call, Operations notified the responding officers that building staff had recovered a plastic baggie containing a white, powdery substance from an elevator on the premises, and that they also had a surveillance video that showed the baggie falling from a resident’s pants pocket.
Upon arrival, police met with the building supervisor, who turned the baggie over to them and showed them the footage of the baggie falling to the ground as he attempted to remove his cell phone from his pocket.
Officers seized the alleged drugs as evidence.
Sneaker swindle
On Thursday, Feb. 1, at around 10:14 p.m., officers responded to a radio call for an armed robbery at 91 Westland Ave.
On arrival, police met with the victim, who said he had set up an online sneaker sale through the Facebook group “Boston SneakerHeads.”
The victim said the suspect messaged him to inquire about a pair of the sneakers the victim had for sale, and he arranged to meet the suspect at the Westland Avenue address at 7:30 p.m. to buy them for $1,500.
At 7:30 p.m., the victim received a text from the suspect saying he was in front of Hemenway Variety at 95 Westland Ave. The victim walked there and was met by two men in a black Jeep. At this time, one of the men exited the vehicle and told the victim to follow him into the convenience store to make the exchange.
As the victim walked into the store, the other man grabbed the sneakers and ran up Hemenway Street towards Boylston Street. The victim attempted to give chase, at which time he said the man remaining in the Jeep pointed a long, black shotgun at him and threatened to shoot the victim if he continued to follow the other suspect.
The victim told police he was initially too afraid to contact police and instead returned to his apartment building, where he told the concierge what had transpired.
The victim was able to provide police with a description of the suspects, although he was unable to get the license-plate number of the Jeep.
Bad call
On Sunday, Feb. 4, at approximately 2:52 p.m., police responded to a radio call for a reported robbery at 47 Hereford St.
Upon arrival, the officer spoke to the victim, who said he was walking along Boylston Street shortly after leaving the Brahmin on Stanhope Street at around 1 a.m., when a male suspect approached him, brandished a knife and demanded the victim’s phone.
The victim complied, at which time the suspect his cell phone back at him. The victim said he looked up a name on the back of the phone, and its owner appeared to be the suspect with more facial hair.
The officer seized the phone as evidence.
