D-4 POLICE NEWS
Sneaker envy
On Monday, Oct. 30, at about 1:52 a.m., police responded to a robbery report at 115 St. Stephen St.
Upon arrival, the officer met with the victim, who said he was walking through the Fens en route to Blaze Pizza in the Fenway neighborhood when an unknown male suspect approached him and asked the victim for a cigarette.
After the victim responded that he didn’t spoke, the suspect followed him for a short distance and was joined by five other, unknown, teenaged male suspects who all proceeded to assault the victim.
During the attack, the suspect demanded that the victim hand over all his money. The victim didn’t have any money on his person, so the suspects instead took his Apple iPhone 6.
The victim said he fell to the ground during the altercation, and at one point, the suspects took the victim’s red-and-black Nike sneakers from his feet before fleeing the area.
Bank on it
On Monday, at approximately 8:51 a.m., police responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at the Sovereign Bank at 61 Arlington St.
Upon arrival, officers met with the branch manager, who said an unknown male suspect has entered the bank and stood hesitantly at the door before asking a teller the location of the ATM. After the teller directed him to the ATM, the suspect left the bank, but returned roughly five minutes later.
At this time, the suspect approached one of the tellers’ windows and demanded money while uttering that he was also suicidal. The suspect fled the bank with a total $4,120, crossing Arlington Street and then fleeing down Park Plaza towards downtown.
Police canvassed the area for the suspect to no avail.
Silly stickup
On Monday, Oct. 30, at around 9:14 p.m., officers responded to a radio call for a person with a gun at Dartmouth Street and Public Alley 419.
On arrival, police spoke to a witness, who stated she saw an unknown male suspect brandishing a firearm and demanding ATM and credit cards from another man at the rear of 255 Beacon St.
While searching for the suspect, police located a man matching his description on the front steps of First Church Boston on Berkeley Street. The suspect attempted to walk away before officers stopped and pat-frisked him, which yielded a black BB gun from the left-hand, front pocket of his pants, as well as two knives from his right–hand pants pocket and a Vipertek electronic taser from the inside jacket of his jacket. A hammer and knife sharpener were also recovered from the suspect’s backpack.
Police then spoke to the victim, who said when the victim had approached him and demanded money, he immediately noticed the firearm was a BB gun. The victim said he then laughed at the suspect and walked away. The victim positively identified the suspect to police.
Officers placed the suspect under arrest, charging him armed assault with intent to rob, possession of an electronic stun gun and carrying and possessing a dangerous weapon. He was transported to District 4 headquarters for booking.
