SoWa Artists Guild’s July events continue

SoWa Sundays will be held on July 12, 19, and 26, beginning at 11 a.m. SoWa Artists Guild events, which are free and open to the public, are held at 450 Harrison Ave.

Nichols House Museum offering summer programming

The Nichols House Museum at 55 Mt. Vernon St. will offer Brahmins & Bohemians Beacon Hill walking tours on July 16 and Aug.13 at 6 p.m.

Summer evenings are perfect for exploring the neighborhood. Join the Nichols House Museum for a relaxed ramble around the Hill. Enjoy the charming details of our beautiful neighborhood as we chat about some of the artists and writers who lived on the Hill when the Nichols family was in residence at 55 Mount Vernon St.

​Also, the Nichols House is open for guided tours Tuesday through Sunday, with expanded hours on the weekends. The museum is fully air conditioned.

Boston Children's School summer and school-year rolling admissions

The Boston Children's School is currently accepting students, ages 3-8, for both this summer and the 2026-'27 academic year. The Summer Fun Program runs from July 7 through Aug. 14, with field trips, weekly themed activities, daily trips to the pool at the Clubs at Charles River Park, and much more.

FOSEL to offer Jazz & Blues concerts in Library Park

Friends of the South End Library (FOSEL) is again sponsoring free Jazz & Blues concerts with Pat Loomis & Friends every other Tuesday from July 7 to Aug. 18 starting at 6:30 p.m. in Library Park.

​Concerts will include “Miles at 100: A Tribute To Miles Davis,” with Scott Aruda (trumpet) Adonis Martin (keyboards), Daniel Day (bass), and Zeke Martin (drums), on July 21; “Saxophone Colossus: A Salute To Sonny Rollins,” with Brett Walberg (tenor sax), Adonis Martin (piano), Daniel Day (bass ), Zeke Martin (drums) on Aug. 4; and A Funky Dance Party, with Ivory Jones and White Chocolate, featuring Joey Mazzarella (keyboards), Daniel Day (bass), and Zeke Martin (drums) on Aug. 18.

Shakespeare on the Common: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s 30th Anniversary production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream will run from July 22 through Aug. 9 at the Parkman Bandstand on Boston Common. The free performances are open to the public, and all shows are open captioned. Previews begin on Wednesday, July 22 at 8 p.m., with the official opening night scheduled for Wednesday, July 29 at 8 p.m.

Open Newbury Street Series Continues

The City of Boston’s Open Newbury Street Series continues on select Sundays through Oct. 11. During the series, Newbury Street transforms into a pedestrian-only walkway, allowing shoppers, diners, and pedestrians to safely enjoy a car-free experience across the full width of the street. Please note that Arlington Street, Berkeley Street, Clarendon Street, Dartmouth Street, and Exeter Street will remain open to vehicular traffic.

Neighborhood Concert Series in the South End

The city-hosted Neighborhood Concert Series is bringing live music to Blackstone Square in the South End on Monday, July 20 at 7 p.m. The free outdoor concert will feature a performance by the 90s tribute band Be Kind Rewind.

Weekly Little Groove Music Classes in Back Bay

Children and families are invited to enjoy Little Groove at Lyrik Back Bay, located at 400 Newbury St. The free, live music events are held on a recurring basis every Sunday from 10:15 to 11 a.m.

Berklee Summer in the City at Lyrik

Enjoy free live music performances by students, faculty, and alumni from the Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory at Berklee. The outdoor concerts take place every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. right on the Lyrik Back Bay plaza at 400 Newbury St.

Free Watercolor Workshops in Back Bay

Head to the Lyrik Back Bay plaza at 400 Newbury St. for a free watercolor workshop hosted by Ashley Eisenman Art, held every Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Workshops are free to attend on a first-come, first-served basis, and all necessary art supplies are provided.
