More than 700 runners, walkers, families and four-legged friends gathered on Sunday, October 25, 2026, for the Esplanade Association’s annual Fall Fest: Run & Walk for the Esplanade. The event, which has evolved over the decades, brought people and pets together for a morning of fitness and seasonal fun, all in support of the Association’s work to revitalize, enhance, sustain and build community throughout one of Boston’s most treasured public spaces.
Participants chose between a professionally timed 5K and a 1.5-mile walk. Open to all ages and abilities, the walk gave individuals and families an accessible way to take in the Esplanade’s fall scenery along its public paths at their own pace – while supporting the park.
New this year, the Paws & Pumpkins Parade gave dogs and their people a chance to join the celebration with a Halloween costume contest, with entries that included a golden retriever dressed up as a U-Haul on Storrow Drive.
Top prizes were awarded to racers, walkers and pups. Before and after crossing the finish line, participants and spectators enjoyed family-friendly activities, met local community partners, and took part in food, music, giveaways and entertainment.
Proceeds from Fall Fest support the Esplanade Association’s ongoing efforts to care for and enhance the park for the many Bostonians and visitors who enjoy it year-round.
