Five people were injured on Monday after a fire engine collided with an SUV at Commonwealth Avenue and Dartmouth Street, setting off a chain-reaction of car crashes.
According to Boston Fire, Engine 7 was responding to an alarm sounded on Boylston Street at around 11:26 a.m., when it struck a Chevrolet Equinox before crashing into numerous parked cars. Four firefighters and a civilian were treated for minor injuries at area hospitals and later released.
The driver of the Chevrolet was later cited for failing to stop at the intersection.
