Claire Benson and Kyle Jurrens cooling down on a stoop with shaved ice during the first Open Newbury event this summer season. The street was shut down, and people flocked to enjoy the space without cars or traffic or parking. There will be additional Open Newbury events of Aug. 25 and Sept. 15.
